Purchasing and displaying giclee and traditional prints

GICLÉES

My favourite way of reproducing my photos is by giclées. I find I like them mounted flat surrounded by a white border and black frame. There is no traditional mat or glass. You can see some examples hanging on walls in the attached photographs.

Artists know that a giclée is a faithful reproduction of an original painting using ink-jet technology.  A photo-giclée uses the same techniques and processes to reproduce photographs on canvas. The result is a beautiful piece of art that has painting-like qualities.

The canvas has some very practical advantages. Because it doesn't require glass, there is no annoying glare or reflection. By using specially formulated UV inks, the archival properties of photo-giclées can assure image permanence for 200 years or more, under ideal lighting conditions.

Just click on the number 1 below to see a slide show of prints hanging in different locations in the home.
